Iron Man Attraction Coming To Hong Kong Disneyland
Ever since Disney’s acquisition of Marvel back in 2009, people have been expecting where the Marvel family of characters would make a full appearance in Disney’s family of products. We saw them come into toys and video games quite quickly…but not the iconic theme parks. It wasn’t until recently that Disney brought Iron Man to the Disneyland Resort in a small experience (that still remains popular), but nothing close to Tony Stark’s own attraction which was rumored to be coming instead.
All the rumors and guessing games can cease now that our friend Disney Parks Chairman Tom Staggs revealed plans that would indeed bring a full attraction featuring a Marvel character to a Disney Park – namely Hong Kong Disneyland!
Tony Stark should be beaming with happiness as he will be getting his own attraction in a Disney Park! The Iron Man Experience ill be located in Tomorrowland and will feature a platform that sound similar to the simulator technology used in Star Tours. Mr. Staggs also revealed some of the plot line that the attraction will take guests through –
Upon entering the ride vehicle our guests will be able to take flight with Iron Man on an epic adventure that not surprisingly pits Iron Man, and our guests, against the forces of evil. This adventure will take place in the streets and skies of Hong Kong, which will make an even more unique and special experience for our Hong Kong Disneyland guests.
In addition to the attraction, the pavilion will also have photo opportunities with Iron Man himself with the whole attraction set to cost $100 million!
We’re pretty excited to finally see a Marvel character get his own attraction and although we wish it was debuting at a US Disney Park, we’re glad that Disney is committed to investing in one of their other Disney Parks that has been struggling to get people through the gates. The Iron Man Experience will open in late 2016.
