Whodunit?! – Recap of RB Jazz Kitchen’s Murder Mystery Dinner Show
Whodunit?!
That’s the question we asked ourselves last Thursday as we attended murder mystery dinner with our Partners at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney (CA). Talented actors and a jazzy atmosphere took us back to the 1955 (when Disneyland first opened) to try and figure out who committed the heinous murder of a famous actor – all during dinner! Basically: Mystery Show + Dinner = AWESOME.
The Murder Mystery
Of course no one really got murdered for our event, but the actors at Artistry Matters put on an absolutely amazing show for us! Their company customizes each show according to the audience they’re performing for (which they usually know a little bit of before the show). Ours had a lot of pop culture and Disney jokes that had us falling out of our seats laughing. I’d rate their show around PG-13, but they do take the presence of children into account. So parents, rest assured that your kids will have a good, safe time as well.
The show was also incredibly interactive and people of all ages were able to participate giving the evening a nice community atmosphere. One of the best parts of the night was guessing who we thought was the murderer – somehow, we guessed correctly and even won some Halloween-themed prizes!
The Food
As always, the food at the Jazz Kitchen was so yummy. The first course was a delicious summer salad with greens, sweet cherry tomatoes, and walnuts to give it that little extra crunch. The main course, of course, was a showstopper: you could choose between steak, chicken, salmon, or a vegetarian option and the portions were absolutely huge! While the size of the dish was amazing in and of itself, the taste was also overwhelmingly good. I personally loved the steak I ordered: it was cooked to perfection, juicy, and bigger than the palm of my hand – expect any meal at the Jazz Kitchen hefty in portions and deliciousness, so make sure you come hungry!
I always look forward to desserts – who doesn’t? While at first I was hesitant about the red velvet roulade (I’d never had a roulade before) I was proven so wrong; the roulade was so amazing I wanted to order seconds! I seriously cannot express how good it tasted. It was light and creamy, and paired with a cup of tea and some good laughs from the actors it wrapped up the evening quite nicely.
In short, the Hollywood Confidential Murder Mystery Dinner was “dead” good! We had an awesome meal coupled with an awesome experience that continues to make the Jazz Kitchen a place for great food and equally good entertainment!
