If you’re visiting the Disney Family Museum in SF, stay at The Inn at the Presidio

It's the perfect place to stay just steps away from the magic (in SF).

I’m a huge fan of the Presidio in San Francisco.

If you thought SF was just a big city, those thoughts disappear once you enter the dense forest of trees and sometimes a cooler microclimate. The Presidio itself is an area within San Francisco National Park and was home to a former U.S. Army Base. Today, it’s home to shops, restaurants, nature trails, and museums, and perfect views of Downtown San Francisco, the San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s basically a city within a city!

I had the opportunity to visit the Presidio on my most recent visit to The Walt Disney Family Museum. Unlike my previous visits, however, I got the chance to stay overnight in the Presidio and just a few buildings away from the museum.

The Inn at the Presidio is in one of those renovated historic buildings that use to be the home for unmarried Army officers. Today, it’s a boutique luxury hotel that combines the charm of the Presidio, the history of San Francisco, and the comforts of home.

My room was a suite, complete with a king bed, private bathroom, and separate living room + fireplace + flat screen TV + bar and coffee/tea set as well as free drinking water. Since the room is in a historic building, there was no A/C, but it wasn’t hot in my room at all. If it was, all the windows let in the cool SF breeze as well as framed amazing views of the Presidio, San Francisco Bay and Golden Gate Bridge.

Outside my room, the hotel itself also had spacious hallways that led to private balconies with rocking chairs or public living spaces that are the perfect place to enjoy the free European breakfast or evening wine and cheese reception while meeting other guests.

It won’t be unusual to find guests who have also stopped by the Walt Disney Family Museum during the visit, so feel free to strike up that conversation about Mickey and Walt. All in all, the Inn at the Presidio is the perfect place to have that magical stay the next time you’re in SF.

Our special thanks to the staff at The Inn at the Presidio for hosting me during my visit to San Francisco and the Walt Disney Family Museum! More details on the property, room availability, and reservations can be found on their official website.
