Here’s why EPCOT is getting so much more Disney infused in it

A lot of Disney’s films were inspired by what EPCOT is all about, so Imagineer argues that it’s a natural fit.

Earlier this year at the D23 Expo, plans were announced that would revamp much of EPCOT at Walt Disney World. While that means a lot of a lot of the original park will be torn down and transformed, a lot of park-loving people seemed concerned when a lot of that transformation included an infusion of Disney-owned characters from most of their franchises including Moana, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ratatouille, and even Mary Poppins.

We wanted to ask Walt Disney Imagineering about the changes, and surprisingly, they were happy to answer. Check out our video above of our chat with the creative executive who helped with the EPCOT transformation, Michael Hundgen.

“EPCOT is inherently Disney,” said Hundgen. He went on to say that a lot of Disney’s films were inspired by a lot of real-world cultures and the hope of the future.
