Why we miss places like Disneyland, as told by The Imagineering Story’s Leslie Iwerks

It’s true that for most of us, we’re missing our favorite Disney Parks right now. It has been a little over a month and a half since my local Disneyland closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, and with news that it won’t be opening for the foreseeable future, it only makes this heart grow fonder.

But I’d argue that our longings to return to the Magic Kingdoms it’s just because we passholders have made it part of our weekly routines. It has more to do with how we each individually interpret what Disneylands mean to us a society.

I had the opportunity to pose the question to a person who spent 6+ years visiting each Disney Park around the world for her documentary “The Imagineering Story”: Leslie Iwerks.

In our recent video interview thanks to our friends at Zoom, Leslie and I spoke about how she’s seen audiences around the world react to the Disney+ series, thoughts on doing Season 2, and how this all connects to why we feel a hole in our hearts right now in quarantine.

Watch the full video interview above via our YouTube channel. Our very special thanks to Leslie Iwerks for the chat!

And expect more of our interviews and features to be videos moving forward, too! We feel deeply about the human connection especially during this time, so what better way to grow that than through these real human conversations from some amazing people. 🙂
