It’s a Pixar Putt!
Chances are that if you’re a Pixar fan, you have found some adorable content featuring their characters in a themed mini-golf experience in your social media feeds. No, your eyes don’t deceive you- that’s a real opportunity that you can take part in yourselves.
And if you’re in Southern California, you can join in on the fun that is Pixar Putt right now in Long Beach, California.
Featuring a full 18 holes of mini-golf, Pixar Putt has been traveling the United States, as well as internationally, to give Pixar fans and mini-golf enthusiasts an opportunity to enjoy both. Having started back in 2019 in Australia, the experience has spawned a following due to the smartly-designed and cute-looking holes that are themed to a Pixar movie.
“It’s not only themed to a movie, but themed to a cherished moment in that movie which makes this all so special,” said Sydney Steele, CEO of Junto Entertainment, which is the U.S. partner of the Australian company that had Pixar’s intellectual property licensed to create Pixar Putt.
For example, there is a hole themed from Monsters, Inc. that has not only the colorful doors that transport you to kids’ rooms, but the flag used as the flag pin to mark the hole was a replica of a kid’s sock that a monster was caught with in the movie and had the iconic code “2319” be called for him to get decontaminated. Another hole inspired by the movie “Coco” had a starting putt across the strings of Ernesto de la Cruz’s guitar. This all happens while the theme music from each film’s soundtrack plays in the background.
Because each hole is also elaborately themed with the characters and moments from the movies, each one has effectively been turned into a social media content opportunity as well, with many mini-golfers taking the time to whip out their phones and take photos and video of themselves while waiting for the party ahead of them to finish putting.
And while there are real golf rules to each hole that include a par count, you can expect to be waiting some time between holes if the course is really busy, especially if there are young kids involved.
However, according to Steele, this experience is for anyone who just wants to have a good time- families, couples, or individuals included. “Our goal is that simple, but we’re even more excited to be able to bring something like this to cities and towns in the world that might not have access or the resources to make it to a place like Disneyland,” Steele said. “Hopefully all this just adds new meaning to what people already love about Pixar.”
Still, you can head on down the freeway from Disneyland Resort to 2nd & PCH in Long Beach, California to experience it yourself.
Pixar Putt in Long Beach is happening now until Jan 12, 2025. Tee times are scheduled every 30 minutes daily, with a 18+ age requirement after 7 pm. You can book your tee time and see where else Pixar Putt is at by visiting the official website.
